Portable Printer

A portable printer is a great option for those who live a life on the go. One of the greatest innovations in portable printing is the ability for a printer to interface directly with a digital camera. This means that you can print your pictures without having to run home and hook into your computer. There are also small models that only print 4 by 6 inch photographs, which are the large prints you would get if you turned film into a developer.

Another great use for a portable printer is the mobile work station. You can setup a laptop and printer combo to run off of a power inverter that plugs into your car. If you have a job that keeps you on the move, this can save hours of time. Imagine going to meet a client, and rather than telling them after the meeting that you’ll process the paperwork and meet with them again; you go out to your car, print off the paperwork right there, and close the deal in one meeting, rather than two.

That is part of the inherent allure of a portable printer. But much like mobile phones and laptops, you shouldn’t attempt to use one while driving. Studies have shown that someone who is even using a hands free headset is as impaired while driving as someone who is intoxicated. Those people at least have their eyes on the road, if not their minds. If you’re looking over at your laptop and trying to get a form to print you don’t even have your eyes in the right place, so take care when using mobile computing solutions.
