Printer Scanners

Printer scanners encompass two of the major hardware accessories people want on their computer. A printer is exactly what the name implies, an implement for creating printed paper. A scanner is a little less obvious in function. Scanners take a visual scan of an object and transfer that scan to a digitally encoded format. Some common scanner formats are bmp, jpeg, or img file extensions.

Printer scanners incorporate both jobs into a single piece of equipment. The scanner is set on top of the printer in most formats, and in some all in one styles, you can copy directly from the scanner to the printer, utilizing it like a photocopier. This use is especially nice for things like printing flyers or invitations.

The driving force behind the merge that created printer scanners is that computers have limited slots for accessories. This was even more limited before the invention of USB, when digital media slots had one or two designated interfaces with the computer. These slots had to be changed out for fax machines, printers, copiers, and scanners. The bottleneck was what caused the all in one machine to become a reality.
